This is the second Shake Out Drill for Davao City. The first one was a huge success, so the entire city was hellbent on outdoing the past year’s performance.
Dash10 in cooperation with this citywide effort to raise awareness and emergency preparedness was ready to participate.
The alarms would be sounded at 9:00AM.
For Dash10, it was business as usual. But you could tell that everyone was excited to be a part of this citywide event.
We identified 2 key exit areas for situations wherein evacuation was necessary. We divided the office staff into two groups. Team A and Team B were assigned exits nearest to their respective rows. Each team was instructed to head to their respective staging areas once out of the building.
After the 30 second marker and everyone was assumed safe during the simulation, we exited in a calm manner through our respective exits with the assigned last men out clearing the office, making sure no one was left behind and exiting last to the staging areas.
We walked briskly with our hands over our heads to protect ourselves from falling debris as we exited the building. We managed to reach our staging areas within 10 seconds with everyone accounted for.
